The Uganda Elections Portal is an online platform developed to provide citizens, political actors, and other stakeholders with up-to-date information about the 2026 general elections in Uganda. It serves as a central hub for election-related news, timelines, voter education, and resources.

The portal is managed by the Innovations for Democratic Engagement and Action (IDEA), a democracy ideas incubation hub and Think Tank.

You can find various resources, including: - The road-map to the 2025/2026 general elections. - Information on voter registration and how to verify your registration status. - Information on internal political party processes. - Nomination details for presidential, parliamentary, and local government candidates. - Guidelines for election observers and the accreditation process. - Frequent updates (news) on the electoral process. - Developments in the legal and policy framework for elections. - Key activities of different civic organizations engaged on Uganda’s elections. - Research and analytical think pieces on the 2026 elections. - Voter education materials and any other important information sources on the 2026 elections. - Important decisions and actions of the 3 arms of government with implications for elections i.e. Judiciary, Parliament, Executive (MDAs).

All Registered Ugandans. In Uganda, all citizens of 18 years and above are eligible to register on the National Voters' Register.

The Electoral Commission has offices in all districts of Uganda, where registration takes place. Registration is done at the district headquarters by the Commission's District Registrars. The Commission also registers people at its head office in Kampala. Eligible voters can register from either their place of residence or place of origin. Note: Eligible voters should not register more than once. It is a punishable crime if one is found to have registered more than once!

You can verify your voting location using the National Voters’ Register display period between April 18 and May 8, 2025. The UGVotes 2026 will also provide a feature to check your polling station online using your voter registration details.

Special interest groups, including youth, persons with disabilities, and older persons, have specific voter registers and representatives. The UGVotes 2026 provides information on the registration and election process for these groups.

If you witness any form of electoral malpractice, you should report it immediately to this portal using our complaint form available on the UGVotes 2026 portal in the Citizen Journalism Section. You can also contact the nearest Electoral Commission office or law enforcement agency.

Election results will be published on the portal as soon as they are officially declared by the Electoral Commission. UGVotes 2026 will provide real-time updates and a searchable database of results for all electoral positions.
